Rates Information
Rates are levied on all rateable properties within the boundaries of the Shire of Bruce Rock in accordance with the Local Government Act 1995. The overall objective of the proposed rates and charges in the 2025-2026 budget is to provide for the net (i.e. after taking into account all other forms of revenue) funding requirements of the Shire’s services, activities, financing costs and the current and future capital requirements of the Shire as outlined in the Shire’s Corporate Business Plan and Strategic Resources Plan.

Payments
The 2025/26 rates are due by 23 September 2025 if paying in full. Alternatively, if you have arranged with us to pay in instalments, those due dates are indicated in the table below.

8.30am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday
Cash, cheque, debit card, Visa and Mastercard accepted

Rate Instalments
Council gives ratepayers the opportunity to either pay one payment or to pay the rates off by instalments, either 2 or 4 payments. To be eligible for this payment option the first payment must be received by 23 September 2025.

Late Payment Penalty Interest
Under the provisions of Section 6.51 of the Local Government Act 1995 Council may charge interest on the overdue amount. This year the penalty interest rate is 11% and will commence from 23 September 2025 on outstanding amounts. This rate is set in accordance with Local Government (Financial Management) Regulations 1996. Eligible pensioners and seniors are exempt from late payment penalty interest.
Arrears
Rates and Services are payable within 35 days of the date of issue of the original rate notice (refer to due date of this notice). Any rates outstanding after this date may be recovered by legal action. COSTS OF LEGAL ACTION WILL BE ADDED TO YOUR ACCOUNT.
If payment is allowed to fall into arrears for a period of three years or more Council may:
- Take the land and let it on lease.
- Sell the land.
- Have the land vested in the Local Government.
- Have the land revested in the Crown.
Financial Hardship Policy
If you are experiencing financial difficulties, alternative payment arrangements can be made with the Shire of Bruce Rock by contacting the Administration Office on (08) 9061 1377. We strongly encourage those who have difficulties to contact the Office as early as possible. The Shire of Bruce Rock has a financial hardship policy that can be found below.
