Vietnam Veterans 2008

Once again a large crowd of veterans gathered in Bruce Rock on the 31st October to the 2nd November for the 2008 Back to the Bush Reunion.  For those wanting to make a week of it, the festivities began on Monday the 27th October and continued right through to the Sunday. Various sporting activities, district tours and a school concert were all on offer to be enjoyed by the visiting veterans.
Friday night played host to a concert in our Shire Hall instead of the usual venue of the Federation Amphitheatre (due to weather conditions). For those chasing something different, various other forms of entertainment were on offer throughout the town to ensure there was something on for everyone to enjoy.
On Saturday morning the markets were very popular with huge crowds of both locals and visitors turning out to either try and pick up a bargain or just enjoy the atmosphere. Although the weather dampened the ground, the goodwill of all those in town didn't waiver.

Anyone who was on the main street at 3pm on Saturday afternoon were treated to a very impressive march that concluded at St Peter’s Church, where a church service was held, for the relighting of the “Memorial Peace Window” candle, led by Revd. Karen Arnold.

Following the service the crowds headed to the local District Club and then on to the Recreation Centre for a barbeque and drinks, complete with live entertainment. Thanks must go to the local SES crew for cooking the barbeque.
On Sunday morning a recovery breakfast was put on before the brass band performed at the Shire Hall.
The Bard’s Fire Pit was lit in preparation for a great night of yarns around the campfire.
