Strategic Community Planning
What Is It?
The strategic community planning process aims to establish the community’s long term (10 plus years) vision, values, aspirations and its service expectations. It will address the following questions:
- Where are we now?
- Where do we want to go?
- How do we get there?
,p>It will assist Council in a number of areas including an Annual Business Plan which will set out in detail how the Council will achieve the Strategic Community Plan as well as Asset Management Plan, Long Term Financial Plan and Workforce Development Plan.
What Will The Planning Look Like?
Council has engaged Caroline Robinson of Solum; Wheatbelt Business Solutions to conduct the planning sessions. Caroline will hold a Council session and two community sessions in July, a school workshop and everyone is welcome to attend and contribute their thoughts.
How Can You Get Involved?
,p>An open community session will be held on Tuesday 17th July 2012 between 1.00pm to 4.00pm and this will be followed by a community organisation working session at 5.30pm to 8.30pm. These sessions will be held in the Shire Hall Supper Room. A school workshop will be held at Bruce Rock District High School also.
Following these sessions, a draft Strategic Community Plan will be presented to Council and the community for comment. Anyone not able to attend the working sessions can forward their response to the draft, directly to the Shire. All views, however they are able to be given, will be considered in the planning process.
What Will Be The Result?
The Shire will produce a 10yr Strategic Community Plan which will help guide the Shire’s Annual Budget and Business Plan from July 2013.
