Land Release
The Free Land program conducted by the Shire of Bruce Rock has been such a huge success that Council has exhausted its stock of free land in the township. Council has voted to end the Free Land Program recently and at this time does not have any more free vacant blocks in Bruce Rock.
In July 2007, Council voted to open applications for blocks of land in the smaller townsite of Ardath. This township is within the boundaries of the Bruce Rock Shire. For further information and a map of the sites CLICK HERE. To Download an information pack on how to apply CLICK HERE.
Council first conducted its Free Land Program in 1992 after it recieved national televesion coverage and were inundated with over 2,000 applications for free land. 10 blocks were allocated with families constucting homes and starting up businresses in Council's purpodse bult factory units.
Council made 20 lots available to the public and the Department of Land Administration agreed to give Council access to a further 31 crown lots.
Over 2000 applications were received in the original land release, with many new houses being built.
In 2006 two further land releases occured, thus finishing the free land program at the Shire of Bruce Rock.
Council would like to thank the thousands of applicants over the years, and congratulate those who were succesful in obtaining a block.
